Four common misunderstandings of excavator battery charging

Therefore, the power supply system of the excavator is powered by the battery and has a charging system, which generates power through the operation of the engine. The charging system supplies power to all electrical equipment and charges the battery. The excavator power supply system mainly includes generator, regulator, battery, discharge warning lamp, ignition switch, etc. Excavator battery is a device for storing electric energy. Battery, generator and electric equipment of excavator are all connected in parallel. When the engine works normally, the generator supplies power to the electric equipment and charges the battery. When starting, the battery supplies power to the starter. The discharge warning lamp is used to indicate the charge and discharge status of the battery. During the use of the battery, it will experience different environmental changes. Under the influence of low temperature environment, the chemical reaction of the battery itself will be attenuated. It is necessary to learn more about battery related knowledge. This article will explain four common mistakes in battery charging.

1) No initial charge

The first charge of a new battery is called initial charge, which has a great impact on the service life and charge capacity of the battery. If the charge is insufficient, the charge capacity of the battery is not high and the service life is short.

2) No supplementary charging

Some owners or operators often neglect to recharge the battery. The charge capacity of the battery will be continuously reduced until the starting is weak, and the service life of the battery will be greatly shortened. In order to reduce the active material on the battery plate in time and reduce the vulcanization of the plate. Improve the charge capacity of the storage battery, extend its service life, and regularly recharge the storage battery in use.

3) Battery overcharge

The battery is often overcharged. Even if the charging current is not large, the electrolyte will be charged for a long time. In addition to the fine particles on the surface of the active material being easy to fall off, the grid frame will be excessively oxidized, resulting in loose peeling of the active material and the grid frame.

4) Reverse polarity during charging

If the polarity is not paid attention to during the initial charge or supplementary charge of the battery, the battery will be charged reversely. The positive and negative electrodes almost become coarse-grained PbSO4, resulting in insufficient charge capacity of the battery and unable to work normally. And even cause the battery to be scrapped.
