Importance of excavator engine drainage

Although the oil-water separator is small, it plays a very important role in the whole excavator. Its main function is to filter the water and impurities in diesel, reduce the wear of fuel injection nozzle and prolong the service life of engine. This page describes the troubleshooting steps and maintenance methods of oil-water separation alarm for reference only.

1. Oil water separator alarm

W010 is the alarm of water volume sensor of oil-water separator. Check whether there is water at the bottom of the oil-water separator and whether water is mixed in the diesel tank. If necessary, discharge it in time. If there is no water in the diesel, check whether the wiring and connector of the water volume sensor of the oil-water separator are abnormal. If the wiring is untied and the connector is removed, the alarm is eliminated, indicating that the sensor itself is damaged and can be replaced. If the sensor wiring is untied and the alarm still cannot be eliminated, it may be the fault of the main computer board. It is recommended to replace it to check whether it returns to normal. The oil-water separator fails, the quality of diesel is poor, and too much moisture in diesel will cause the engine to fail to start.

2. Maintenance of oil-water separator

1) Regular drainage

It is recommended to check the water in the oil-water separation every day and drain water regularly. There is generally a red buoy in the oil-water separator. The density of the buoy is between diesel and water, so it will float on the water surface and at the bottom of diesel. When the buoy is in the middle position, unscrew the drain bolt at the bottom of the oil-water separator to drain the water.

2) Replace the filter element on time

The filter element of the oil-water separator shall be replaced every 500 hours. It is recommended to use the original high-quality filter element to prevent the filter element of the oil-water separator from being blocked by too many impurities for too long, which will affect the filtering accuracy, cause impurities to enter the diesel system and wear the diesel pump and fuel injection nozzle.

3) Winter insulation

The temperature is low in winter, especially in the north. In order to prevent the filter cup of the oil-water separator from being frozen, a layer of thermal insulation material can be wrapped for the oil-water separator. In addition, an oil-water separation filter cup with heating function can be selected to prevent diesel oil in the oil-water separator from freezing.
