Misunderstandings in the use of excavator oil and lubricating grease

The engine oil and lubricating grease of excavator are the two most important oils in the use of excavator. There are many misunderstandings about the use of these two oils. This article will explain the misunderstandings existing in the use of these two kinds of users for reference only.

1. The engine oil is only added but not replaced

Engine oil is essential in the use of diesel engine, which mainly plays the role of lubrication, cooling, cleaning and so on. Therefore, many drivers will pay attention to check the amount of lubricating oil and add it according to the standard. However, the inspection of lubricating oil quality and the replacement of deteriorated engine oil are ignored, resulting in some moving parts of the engine always running in a poor lubrication environment, so as to accelerate the wear of various parts.

Under normal circumstances, the loss of engine oil is small, but it is easy to pollute, thus losing the role of protecting the diesel engine. During the operation of diesel engine, many pollutants, such as soot, carbon and dirt generated by incomplete combustion of fuel, will enter the engine oil.

For new or repaired machinery, there will be more impurities after commissioning. If it is only added and not replaced, it is easy to cause accidents such as tile burning and shaft holding.

In addition, even if the engine oil is changed, some drivers will not thoroughly clean the oil passage during replacement due to lack of maintenance experience or reduced workload, so that mechanical impurities remain in the oil pan and oil circuit.

2. Indiscriminate use and application of lubricating grease

Lubricating grease is commonly used in the repair of construction machinery, which can play the role of lubrication and sealing.

Some repairmen will apply a layer of grease on the cylinder gasket when installing the cylinder gasket. It is considered that this can increase the tightness of diesel engine. This will affect the working performance of the diesel engine. Cylinder gasket is the most important seal between diesel engine cylinder block and cylinder head. It can not only seal the high-temperature and high-pressure gas generated in the cylinder, but also seal the cooling water and lubricating oil in the cylinder head and cylinder body. Therefore, pay special attention to its sealing quality when disassembling the cylinder gasket.

If the cylinder gasket is coated with lubricating grease during installation, part of the lubricating grease will be squeezed into the cylinder water channel and oil channel when the cylinder head bolts are tightened. When the cylinder is working, due to the influence of high temperature, part of the lubricating grease left between the cylinder pad will flow into the cylinder for combustion, and the other part will remain on the joint surface of the cylinder block and the cylinder head, resulting in a gap between the cylinder pad, the cylinder head and the plane of the engine body. High temperature and high pressure gas can easily impact the cylinder gasket from here, destroy the cylinder gasket and cause air leakage.

In addition, when the lubricating grease is at high temperature for a long time, it will also produce carbon deposition, resulting in premature aging and deterioration of the cylinder pad. Therefore, do not apply grease when installing the cylinder gasket.
