Lubricating grease is used for the friction part of machinery to lubricate and seal. It is also used on metal surfaces to fill gaps and prevent rust. It is mainly made of mineral oil or synthetic lubricating oil and thickener. The working principle of grease is that the thickener keeps the oil at the position that needs lubrication. When there is load, the thickener releases the oil, thus playing a lubricating role. During the use of construction machinery, it is necessary to add or replace lubricating grease to ensure the lubrication between mechanical parts. This article will summarize the matters needing attention when replacing or filling lubricating grease. Due to the different requirements of each brand of construction machinery, this article is for reference only.
1. The amount of lubrication added should be appropriate
If the greasing amount is too large, the friction torque will increase, the temperature will increase, and the grease consumption will increase. If the amount of grease is too small, reliable lubrication cannot be obtained and dry friction occurs. Generally speaking, the appropriate amount of grease is 1/3~1/2 of the total void volume in the bearing. However, according to the actual situation, sometimes the bearing edge should be greased to implement cavity lubrication.
2. Pay attention to prevent the mixing of different types, brands and old and new greases
Avoid the cross use of grease containers and tools. Otherwise, it will have adverse effects on the grease, such as drop point decrease, cone penetration increase and mechanical stability decrease.
3. Pay attention to the replacement of new grease
As the variety and quality of lubricating grease are constantly improving and changing, when using new lubricating grease for old equipment, it should be tested first and then officially used after trial. When replacing with new grease, remove the waste grease first and clean the components. When adding lubricating grease, the waste lubricating grease should be squeezed out until new lubricating grease is seen at the grease discharge port.
4. Pay attention to the management of lubricating grease filling process
Before receiving and filling lubricating grease, pay strict attention to the cleaning of containers and tools, and wipe the grease supply port on the equipment in advance to prevent the mixing of mechanical impurities, dust and sand particles.
5. Pay attention to the timely replacement of seasonal grease
The temperature difference between winter and summer in which the equipment is located varies greatly. If winter grease is used in summer or vice versa, the result will be counterproductive.
6. Pay attention to adding and changing lubricating grease regularly
The adding and changing time of lubricating grease should be determined according to the specific use conditions, which should not only ensure reliable lubrication, but also avoid the waste of grease.
7. Do not pack grease in wooden or paper containers
It should be stored in a cool and dry place to prevent oil loss from hardening, mixing with water or being polluted and deteriorated.
