Bucket Excavator is…

A bucket-wheel excavator (BWE) is a huge piece of surface mining equipment.

BWEs are used as a continuous digging machine in large-scale open-pit mining operations, removing thousands of tons of overburden every day. BWEs differ from other large-scale mining equipment like bucket chain excavators in that they employ a huge wheel with a continuous pattern of buckets that scoop material as the wheel rotates.

They rank among the largest vehicles (land or sea) ever produced, and the largest of the bucket-wheel excavators (the 14,200 ton Bagger 293) still holds the Guinness World Record for the heaviest land-based vehicle ever constructed.

Excavator Bucket Grease

Greasing your heavy gear on a regular basis is one of the most critical things you can do to keep it in good working order. This includes the bucket. Grease not only extends the machine's life, but it also avoids contamination and improves performance. Grease keeps joints from sticking together and keeps pins and bushings from wearing out. Here are some suggestions for selecting the best grease.

a. Do not use the same type of grease for all of your machines and parts. Different parts of a machine may require different types of grease, depending on their operating temperature. So please choose a suitable grease for your bucket.

b. Check grease recommendations in your equipment manual. One of the first places to check when deciding which grease to use is your machine's operation manual. While not all manuals go into specifics about greasing, they'll include a general recommendation. This is a great place to start.

c. Base your grease choices on the equipment application. If a job requires you to apply a lot of pressure to a machine, it may be a good idea to use a grease with a molybdenum disulfide (moly). The additive helps the grease get into small machine pins and bushings. If the parts aren't greased sufficiently enough, welding can occur.
