Check the oil-water separator and diesel oil separator every day. Change the engine oil and oil filter element every 250 hours. Replace diesel filter element, oil-water separator, hydraulic oil filter element, etc. within 500 hours. There are some differences in the maintenance time of different models. Just follow the provisions in the manual. But for the oil used, many people have two misunderstandings. This article will summarize and explain the two misunderstandings existing in the replacement of excavator oil for reference only.
1. The higher the grade of engine oil, the better the quality
Generally, the outer package of engine oil will contain brand, label, capacity and other information. As for brands, it is safer to choose well-known brands. As for the capacity, you can buy more spare parts according to the capacity marked on your engine manual. The oil grade includes two parts: classification and viscosity specification. The oil classification is represented by a combination of two letters. The series beginning with "S" represents gasoline engine oil. The general specifications are arranged alphabetically from SA to SN, but there is no SI. The performance of the engine oil will be better than that of the previous one with each increasing letter. There will be more additives in the oil to protect the engine. The lower the letter, the higher the quality level. The oil grade of international brands is mostly above SF grade. The series beginning with "C" represents diesel engine oil. If the letters "S" and "C" exist at the same time, it indicates that the engine oil is general-purpose for gasoline and diesel.
2. Meaning of oil classification letter
For example, 15W-30, where the letter "W" indicates winter. The more obvious the figures in front, the better the low-temperature fluidity of the engine oil. It means that the lower the ambient temperature available for use, the better the protection ability of the engine during cold start. For example, 10W represents resistance to external low temperature of – 25 ° C, while 20W is resistance to low temperature of – 15 ° C. The number after “W” represents the kinematic viscosity of the oil at 100 ℃. The higher the value, the higher the viscosity. 40 represents the kinematic viscosity at 100 ℃, and the standard is between 12.5mm2/s and 16.3mm2/s.
In terms of selecting engine oil, buy appropriate engine oil according to the needs of your own region or according to the notes on the engine manual. It is not necessary to buy engine oil with too high grade.
