When buying excavators, fuel consumption is a big consideration. It is very annoying when the excavator has abnormal oil consumption. Oil consumption can be divided into normal consumption and abnormal consumption. This article summarizes some causes of abnormal consumption of excavator oil for reference only.
When abnormal consumption is found, the following aspects should be considered first.
1. Whether high-quality diesel oil is used. If the quality of diesel oil is poor, it will cause serious combustion and carbon deposition in the cylinder, resulting in wear of piston ring and cylinder barrel. After the clearance is too large, the oil is burned in the combustion chamber, resulting in oil consumption.
2. Whether the maintenance is carried out on time and whether the genuine diesel filter element is used.
3. Whether the engine oil is increased.
Then consider the following aspects.
1. The engine itself is not tightly sealed, resulting in oil leakage. Due to the long-term use of the engine, the wear of the piston on the cylinder wall gradually increases, and the piston clearance increases. The oil will enter the cylinder for combustion through these clearances. After long-term use, the valve clearance sealing gasket will also age, resulting in loose sealing, and the engine oil will enter the cylinder through the valve for combustion.
2. Observe whether the excavator emits blue smoke. Blue smoke is a remarkable feature of abnormal oil consumption of excavators.
3. Abnormal oil consumption and dripping oil in the lower exhaust may be caused by worn or cracked piston rings. If the lower exhaust oil drops are not serious, it may be that the turbocharger seal is not tight. Remove the pipes at both ends of the turbocharger to check whether there is oil. If there is oil, it indicates that the turbocharger is faulty.
4. Check whether the valve oil seal is damaged, causing oil consumption.
