When using construction machinery in winter, oil, gas and cooling pipelines will have various failures due to cold weather. A crawler excavator stalled shortly after starting. The operator pump the oil with a manual pump and remove the air from the fuel pipe. The engine will still stop soon after the restart.
Check that the oil pipes from the oil tank to the oil transfer pump and from the oil transfer pump to the diesel filter are not blocked. After disassembling and inspecting the diesel filter, it was found that the filter element was frozen. The main reason is that the excavator did not undergo seasonal maintenance when it was stopped for storage in autumn. The original diesel oil has a high freezing point. In winter, the diesel in the filter is frozen and the filter element is sealed. Although it was barely able to start, the engine shut down due to clogged filter element and insufficient diesel supply. When the engine is started again after the ice in the filter element is removed and the diesel is replaced, the diesel engine works normally.
