Long time construction in summer, coupled with high temperature weather, the continuous high temperature of the engine has become a troublesome problem. This paper introduces an important component causing high temperature – water pump.
1. Location of water pump
The water pump is installed in front of the cylinder block, and the water is discharged from the water pump by the rotation of the internal impeller. The water pump shell is provided with a breathing hole to ensure the normal sealing of the water seal and the normal lubrication of the water pump bearing, so as to maintain a long service life.
2. Function of water pump
The engine drives the water pump bearing and impeller to rotate through the belt pulley. The coolant in the water pump is driven by the impeller to rotate together. Under the action of centrifugal force, it is thrown to the edge of the water pump shell, generates a certain pressure, and then flows out of the water outlet channel or water pipe.
The pressure of the center of the impeller decreases due to the coolant being thrown out. The coolant in the water tank is sucked into the impeller through the water pipe under the action of the pressure difference between the water pump inlet and the center of the impeller, so as to realize the reciprocating circulation of the coolant, so as to reduce the coolant temperature.
3. Operation of water pump
Generally, the crankshaft of the engine is driven by the V-belt. The belt is surrounded between the crankshaft and the water pump. As soon as the crankshaft rotates, the water pump shaft runs with it, and the water pump shaft drives the impeller to rotate, so as to realize the water circulation of the engine.
4. Water pump failure
1) The hot wind blowing out in winter is not hot
In winter, when the engine water temperature rises, the hot air cannot blow out. This fault is the most easily neglected fault caused by poor cooling water flow.
2) Unstable engine water temperature
The engine temperature fluctuates within a certain range because of the inconsistency caused by the lack of water circulation. On the one hand, the opening temperature of the thermostat increases. On the other hand, after the high-temperature water flows out, the low-temperature antifreeze quickly flows to the thermostat, causing the thermostat to close quickly. At this time, it is necessary to check whether the water pump is faulty.
3) Engine high temperature
The cooling water is reduced, the large circulation is not smooth, and the engine is high temperature. If there are these phenomena, the water pump should be checked. At this time, the water pump has been seriously damaged, including water leakage, which may be only a slight leakage. Due to the high temperature of the engine, the leaked coolant will evaporate immediately and cannot be detected, which will lead to the reduction of cooling water every day.
