Causes of excavator water tank failure

There are two ways of engine cooling: water cooling and air cooling. The engine water-cooled cooling system is mainly composed of water pump, radiator, cooling fan, auxiliary water tank, thermostat, engine block, cylinder head water jacket, etc. The main function of the water tank is to dissipate heat, which is an important part of the engine cooling system. When the engine temperature is too high, the thermostat is opened to cool the coolant in the radiator through the water pump and fan. The cooled coolant is introduced into the water jacket again for continuous circulation to cool the engine. If the water tank of the excavator fails frequently, the engine will overheat and the excavator will be damaged. This article will summarize some causes of excavator water tank failure for reference only.

1. Water tank backflow

First, check whether the cylinder is faulty. Then clean the scale in the water tank and observe whether the water tank cover is damaged or not sealed well.

2. Water tank is short of water

Check whether the pipeline between the main water tank and the auxiliary water tank is smooth. Whether there is air or water leakage at each interface of the water tank. Add water into the water tank to the standard position, and then start the excavator to check whether there are bubbles in the auxiliary water tank. If yes, the engine cylinder gasket is broken. If there are no bubbles, check the engine cylinder head for cracks. If yes, it needs to be replaced. If tap water is added, the excavator cooling system may produce scale, which will reduce the internal heat dissipation area of the water tank and worsen the heat dissipation effect.

3. Water leaks from auxiliary water tank

When the engine is water-cooled, the water will take away the heat of the engine and cause volume expansion. The auxiliary water tank is used to temporarily store this part of water. When the temperature drops, it returns to the water tank. If the water only enters the auxiliary water tank from the water tank without returning, the water loss will increase. Therefore, check whether the pipeline between the auxiliary water tank and the water tank is smooth, and then check whether the water tank is well sealed.

4. When the water temperature is not high, the auxiliary water tank emits water

Check the water tank for damage. Whether antifreeze is lacking. Check whether the pipe of auxiliary water tank is blocked. It may be that the air and water cannot be discharged, leading to water leakage.
