Classification and working principle of hydraulic cylinder

Hydraulic cylinder is the executive component of hydraulic transmission system. It is an energy conversion device that converts hydraulic energy into mechanical energy. The hydraulic motor realizes continuous rotary motion, while the hydraulic cylinder realizes reciprocating motion. According to the structure, the hydraulic cylinder can be divided into three categories: piston hydraulic cylinder, plunger hydraulic cylinder and swing hydraulic cylinder. Piston cylinder and plunger cylinder realize reciprocating linear motion and output speed and thrust. The swing cylinder realizes reciprocating swing and outputs speed and torque. Hydraulic cylinder is a kind of hydraulic equipment that does linear reciprocating motion or swinging motion, and its structure is relatively simple. When doing reciprocating motion, the motion is stable, so it is widely used in construction machinery and equipment. In addition to single use, the hydraulic cylinder can also be combined with two or more or with other mechanisms to complete special functions.

The hydraulic cylinder is mainly composed of cylinder head, cylinder barrel, piston rod, piston, sealing device, buffer device and other components.

Piston hydraulic cylinder can be divided into single piston hydraulic cylinder and double piston hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder used in excavator is mainly single piston hydraulic cylinder. Single piston hydraulic cylinder has only one end of piston rod, and its two ends are oil outlet and oil return port respectively to realize two-way movement, also known as double acting cylinder. The excavator takes hydraulic oil as the working medium. The hydraulic pump converts the mechanical energy of the engine into hydraulic energy and transmits it. Then, the hydraulic energy is converted into mechanical energy through hydraulic cylinder and hydraulic motor, and finally complete various actions of the excavator.
