During the daily use of the excavator, some dirt or dust will accumulate in the water tank. If the engine is not cleaned during daily maintenance, it may overheat the engine and eventually cause engine damage. Therefore, it is important to know how to clean the water tank. This article will summarize and explain several methods for cleaning the water tank for reference only.
1. Low pressure water gun flushing
Water gun flushing is the most convenient way to clean the water tank. Sometimes you don’t even need a water gun, just a water pipe can solve the problem. Almost all construction sites can meet this condition, which is very convenient. The radiator fins of the water tank are very thin, so high water pressure must not be used during flushing. And the straight fins need to be flushed, otherwise the fins will be blown down and the heat dissipation will be affected finally. In addition, it is better to flush from the engine side of the water tank to the outside. Because the cooling fans of most excavators are suction type, cold air enters from the outside when working, and will be distributed from the engine room after taking away the heat from the water tank. Therefore, flushing the fins from the inside to the outside can more easily remove the impurities blocked in the fins. Generally, it is dust that blocks the fins and affects the heat dissipation. Washing with a water gun can remove most of the dust. Due to the small gap between fins, the dust inside may not be cleaned up. In addition, dust tends to stick more tightly with fins when encountering water. Therefore, flushing is not the best way to clean the water tank.
2. Compressed air flushing
Since only the repair shop or the site equipment management office has an air pump, the compressed air flushing method is less convenient than the low-pressure water gun flushing method. If compressed air is used to flush the water tank, the pressure shall also be adjusted. Also, the straight fins need to be purged so that the fins will not be blown down, thus affecting the normal heat dissipation. The clearance between fins is small, and air has better trafficability than water. The force acting on the internal dust and impurities is also greater, making it easier to clean the fins. Therefore, the cleaning effect will be better than that of the water gun flushing method.
3. Cleaning with special detergent
This method of use is simple. Spray the cleaning agent evenly into the gap of the air conditioner fins, and then the cleaning agent will produce a lot of foam. And take out the dust and other dirty things, and then rinse them with clean water.
Among the three cleaning methods for water tank fins, the flushing method is the most convenient, but the effect is not ideal. The cleaning effect of detergent is the best, but the cost is slightly higher and may cause some damage to fins.
