Misunderstanding of excavator operation in winter

In the cold winter, excavators in many areas are still working. The environmental temperature has certain influence on each part of excavator. Therefore, if the excavator is used improperly in this season, it will cause failures. However, many people have some misunderstanding about the use of excavators in winter. So that a wrong operation is performed during the use of the excavator and the excavator is damaged. This article will summarize and explain some common misunderstandings of excavator in winter. For reference only.

1. Discharge cooling water too early

Cooling water is also required in winter. In addition, the cooling water needs to be discharged at the right time to keep the excavator in normal operation. First of all, it must be known that premature discharge or non discharge of cooling water is a wrong operation. If the water is not completely discharged, the remaining cooling water will freeze and expand. If the cooling water is discharged earlier, the temperature of the engine will be too high at this time, and it will shrink suddenly when it encounters cold air. Cracks occur in severe cases. It is necessary to idle the engine for a period of time. When the temperature of cooling water reaches below 60 ℃, turn off the engine and discharge water.

2. Neglect the thermal insulation of equipment

Thermal insulation of excavator is a very important step in winter. After the excavator is finished working in winter, it is necessary to cover the excavator engine with insulation curtain and insulation sleeve. If necessary, use cardboard in front of the radiator for wind protection.

3. Improper walking operation

When the excavator moves to the work site, it must travel, and in winter, the excavator needs to pay more attention. Be sure to drive slowly at a constant speed to avoid sliding on the slope. Never change direction too fast or swing the upper body too fast, as it is easy to slide sideways and lead to dangerous situations. When the excavator is walking, it should be as far away from the surrounding obstacles as possible to avoid collision between the parking pulley and obstacles.

4. Ignore the excavator after shutdown

If the excavator is parked in winter without any operation, the parts of the excavator may be damaged due to cold weather. The mud and water on the excavator body shall be removed after shutdown. Prevent damage to the seal due to mud and dirt entering the seal together with water droplets. And the position where the excavator is parked is very important. It should be parked on a hard and dry ground. Also, drain the water accumulated in the fuel system to prevent freezing.
