Many excavator users occasionally see adding oil directly to the diesel engine in their daily operation. The purpose of this is to save costs. However, the mixed use of excavator oil will not only aggravate the deterioration of oil, but also lead to slower excavator action or higher excavator temperature, and aggravate the wear of excavator components. This article will describe the reasons why excavator oil cannot be mixed.
1. Mixing old and new engine oils will reduce performance
There are a lot of oxidizing substances in the old engine oil. When the new engine oil is mixed with the old engine oil, the oxidation and deterioration rate of the new engine oil will increase, so as to reduce the use effect and use time of the new engine oil. When the old engine oil of diesel engine is scrapped and removed, if all new engine oil is added, the service life of engine oil can reach 1500 hours. If half of the new engine oil is mixed with half of the old engine oil, the service time of the engine oil is only 200 hours, and the service life is greatly reduced.
2. The engine oil is muddy
Oils of different brands and grades cannot be mixed. Due to the different chemical additives in different brands and grades of engine oils, these chemical additives sometimes react to reduce the lubrication effect, produce acid-base compounds and aggravate the corrosion of engine parts. At present, sulfonate is used as the dispersant detergent of most engine oils, while salicylate is used as the dispersant detergent of some engine oils. Salicylate is incompatible with the sulfonate used in other lubricants. If the two lubricants are mixed, there will be stratification, turbidity, deterioration of cleaning ability and so on.
